Resilience Hat
Designed during Edmonton’s 2015 Resilience Festival, this hat showcases the intrinsic beauty of hand spun yarn, giving it space to do it’s thing in a large chunk of simple stockinette stitch.
Yarn
MC: Approximately 140m/153yd, 80g/3oz of
worsted weight hand spun yarn.
CC: Approximately 50m/55yd, 25g/1oz of Custom
Woolen Mills Mule Spinner 2ply Natural White.
Needles
One set of 5, 20cm/8” long, DPNs for main fabric.
Suggested size: 4.5mm/US 7
One set of 5, 20cm/8” long, DPNs a few sizes
smaller than main needles for ribbing. Suggested
size: 3mm/US 2.5
Gauge & Sizing
20 stitches & 30 rounds = 10cm/4” in stockinette
stitch on larger needles.
This gauge produces a loose fitting, floppy hat with
a circumference of 56cm/22”. A closer fitting tuque
can be achieved by knitting the body of the hat at a
slightly tighter gauge.
